Failing to plan for success

Most businesses don’t’ have a realistic business plan, or their business plan was created for someone else (accountant, lawyer etc.). It has a lot of information about the business but doesn’t break goals and objectives (if it has these) down into strategy, tactics and actions. Instead, it relies on hope and luck to turn words on a page into results.

Without this breakdown of goals into plans and then tasks there is nothing to measure against and it’s difficult to make sense of any information the business collects – leads are up but sales are down?

Without things to track how can anyone be held accountable? With nobody held accountable, there is no reason to challenge the status quo.
