What personal data we collect and why we collect it

  • Name  – first and last name so we can address an appropriate and cordial response
  • Email address – to reply to contact queries, forward downloaded resources and follow up consultation requests
  • Phone Number – to follow up contact enquiries and consultation requests
  • Company Name – to provide context for our consultants to follow up contact enquiries and consultation requests
  • Job Title – to provide context for our consultants to follow up contact enquiries and consultation requests
  • Website – to provide context for our consultants to follow up contact enquiries and consultation requests
  • Level in the Organisation – to provide context for our consultants to follow up contact enquiries and consultation requests

When our visitors leave comments on the site we collect first/last name, email, phone number, company name, job title and also the visitor’s  Internet Protocol Address (“IP”) and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.


If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Contact forms

When visitors request us to contact them via the site contact form we collect name, email, phone number, company, job title. This enables us to obtain some context and provide an alternative channel of communication to ensure we can service your queries or request for information in a professional and  timely manner.

Newsletter and Downloads

You are provided with an opportunity to either sign-up for a periodic email newsletter  or download resources from our library by entering your email address and confirming it by clicking on a confirmation link sent to you by us by e-mail (double opt-in).

In some cases we may ask you for further information, such as name, company, occupation, level in your organisation, website, address or telephone number to enable us to process your request and follow up with appropriate information. Regarding the processing of this personal data you will be asked to grant your explicit consent at the point of request.

If you subscribe for our periodic email newsletter your IP address as well as data and time of subscription will be collected and stored on Hubspot. Inc. This allows us to prevent misuse of our services or of the e-mail address of the subscriber.  This data is only used for the distribution of the newsletter. The subscription may be terminated by you at any time by following the unsubscribe instructions included in each newsletter. We will delete the relevant personal data promptly upon your unsubscribe instruction.

We respect your privacy and do not tolerate spam and will never sell, rent, lease or give away your information (name, address, email, etc.) to any third party. Nor will we send you unsolicited email.

If you choose to give your name, email address and other information into one or more of our site’s registration forms, then we will send you emails relating to the mailing list, downloadable resources you requested, confirmation of your free consultation, as well as marketing offers from time to time. How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

**For users that register on our website, we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information. **

Where a privacy data breach is known to have occurred (or is suspected) any member of First Principles Consulting team who becomes aware of this must, within 24 hours, alert the Managing Director in the first instance, who will assess the level of breach, liaise with appropriate technical expertise to define and execute appropriate actions to halt and rectify the breach.
